Managing diabetes is NOT SCIENCE โ it's an ART. Science gives us the tools: glucometers, insulin, medication schedules. But living well with diabetes is a daily practice of awareness, balance and small consistent choices.
The Plate is the First Prescription
Before any tablet, the plate decides the day. Half vegetables, a quarter protein, a quarter whole grains โ and the discipline to keep the sweet tooth an occasional guest rather than a permanent resident. Portion size matters more than food lists.
Walk. Every Day. No Exceptions.
Thirty minutes of brisk walking drops blood sugar as reliably as many medications, improves insulin sensitivity for hours afterwards, and costs nothing. The best exercise plan is not the perfect one โ it is the one you actually repeat.
Know Your Numbers
HbA1c every three months, fasting sugar as advised, blood pressure and cholesterol annually. Diabetes rarely announces its complications loudly; the numbers whisper first. Listen to them.
Art requires practice, patience and forgiveness for imperfect days. Practise daily, and diabetes becomes a companion you manage โ not a master you fear.
